BLT Sandwich with Garlic Mayo

We all love the traditional BLT sandwich but let’s take it up a notch with some garlic mayo.

The best bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich has a dreamy garlic mayo in my opinion. This blt sandwich recipe is flavorful and perfect when summer tomatoes are in season. Whether you use regular sliced bread, sourdough, or gluten-free bread, this recipe will be the perfect lunch or picnic sandwich. The garlic mayo recipe is easy to make and comes together in minutes. Ingredients

Bread – Use your favorite sliced bread. It can be white, sourdough, or gluten-free bread.

Lettuce – Buttercrunch lettuce is tender and delicious for this or you can use a green leaf lettuce.

Tomato – A large beefsteak tomato, make sure it’s nice and ripe

Bacon – Use your favorite brand

Mayo – Duke’s mayonnaise is delicious here but you can use your favorite brand. Do not use Miracle Whip

Garlic – You will need 1 small clove of garlic

Black Pepper

Chives (Optional) – Fresh chives add a slight bit of onion flavor to the garlic mayo but it is not necessary if you don’t have any

Make The Garlic Mayo

In a small bowl combine 1/4 c of mayonnaise, 1 small garlic clove minced/crushed, 1/2 tsp of chives (optional), and 1/8 tsp of black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

Cook The Bacon

Place the bacon on a parchment lined baking sheet and place it into a cold 400°F oven. Bake for 10 minutes or to desired level of crispy you like.

Toast the bread either in a toaster or in a dry skillet if it doesn’t fit into a toaster.

Once the bacon is cooked, remove it from the baking sheet and place it on a paper towel lined plate to catch the grease.

Slice the tomato into thick slices and wash and dry the lettuce.

Take one slice of bread and spread the garlic mayo onto it, then top it with the lettuce, tomato, and bacon. Sprinkle the top with a bit of sea salt flakes. Add the remaining piece of bread to the top of the sandwich.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 4 slices Bread use a sourdough, white bread, or gluten-free bread
  • 3-4 leaves Lettuce butter, lettuce or green leaf lettuce
  • 2 Tomato, sliced use a large tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 Garlic clove, small minced or grated
  • 1/8 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Chives, fresh minced
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt Flakes

Instructions
 

Make the Garlic Mayo

  • In a small bowl add 1/4 cup of mayonnaise, 1 small garlic clove crushed or minced, 1/8 tsp of black pepper, and 1 tsp of minced chives. Mix well and set it aside.
  • Place the bacon slices onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Then place it into a cold oven.
  • Heat the oven to 400°F and cook the bacon until the desired level of crispiness, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Once the bacon is cooked, remove it to a paper towel lined plate to drain any excess fat.
  • Toast the bread in a toaster or dry skillet.
  • Wash the lettuce then pat dry.
  • Slice the tomato

Assemble the Sandwich

  • Spread some of the garlic mayo mixture to one side of the bread. Then layer it with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Spread a bit more garlic mayo to the remaining slice of bread then top the sandwich with the slice of bread.

Notes

If using buttercrunch lettuce you will use more lettuce leaves. If using a green leaf lettuce you may use less.
If only making 1 sandwich you will only need 1 tomato
