I love the idea of mini slider sandwiches. Whether it’s for your family’s weekend lunch or dinner, or you’re hosting a party they are a fun addition to serve. There are so many different ways to make them, and while these roast beef slider’s are my latest obsession, these Mozzarella and Prosciutto Sliders are another family favorite.

Why You'll Love Them

  • They don’t require a lot of time to put together.
  • You can control the spice level.
  • Great for parties
  • Can be made gluten-free using gluten-free buns

What Type of Condiment Goes Well With Roast Beef

A horseradish cream sauce goes nicely with roast beef, it has a nice tangy flavor that really shines through with the beef and enhances the sandwich. Even though it can be a bit spicy for some, you can adjust the spice level by adding more or less sauce.

Mustard is also great with roast beef, since there are different types of mustard, I would stick to the ones that are not on the sweet side. Whole grain, Dijon, or even plain regular mustard should work well.

Which Rolls To Use

I suggest you stick with the savory slider buns, Kings Hawaiian has both savory and sweet roll. I think the savory is the better way to go. Generally any savory roll should work. If there’s a Wegmans near you they also have their own version of the savory roll.

Ingredients

Butter – Use unsalted butter.

Parsley – Fresh Parsley

Black Pepper

Garlic – You will only need 1 clove of garlic

Savory Slider Buns – This recipe is for a pack of 12 slider buns. Make sure they are savory and not the sweet ones.

Deli Roast Beef – Thinly sliced roast beef.

Cheddar Cheese – Sliced cheddar is preferred but you can use shredded in a pinch.

Creamy Horseradish Sauce – Store bought or homemade just make sure it’s the sauce and not plain horseradish. This is the brand I use  Kelchner’s Creamy Horseradish Sauce. You can find it at most supermarkets in the refrigerator section.

Maldon Sea Salt Flakes (Optional)

Horseradish cream spread onto slider buns.

Instructions

  1.  Pre-heat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Soften the butter to a spreadable consistency, you can microwave for a few seconds to soften you want it really soft but not runny.
  3. Add the minced fresh parsley and the minced garlic clove to the softened butter and set it aside.
  4. Place parchment paper or aluminum foil onto the bottom of a large baking sheet.
  5. Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom part onto the prepared baking sheet. Set the top part of the slider buns to the side.
  6. Add a layer of the roast beef to the bottom of the slider buns, followed by a layer of the cheddar cheese.
  7. Flip the top buns over (So the inside is facing up) and spread a or thin or thick layer of horseradish cream sauce (use a thicker layer if you like it spicy) onto the buns. Flip the buns to top the sandwich.
  8. Brush the butter mixture all over the buns then sprinkle lightly with black pepper and sea salt flakes.
  9. Cover the buns with aluminum foil and bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted.
  10. Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes until the tops are golden brown and all the cheese is fully melted.

How Many Sliders Per Person

Generally figure 1-2 sliders per person, depending on whether you have other food items available. If you are just making sliders then I suggest increasing to 3-4 per person depending on who you’re serving. A young child will be ok with one but a teenager or adult will eat more.

Recipe Tips

  • If when microwaving the butter to soften it becomes a bit liquid, just mix in with the rest of the more solid butter then add the parsley and garlic. It will thicken up and become spreadable as it sits.
  •  Break the deli roast beef into pieces, this way when pulling apart during serving large pieces of the roast beef don’t fall out an you’re left with an empty bun.

Storage Tips

Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Gently heat in the microwave.
