Italian Style Tuna Sandwich

Ingredients

Canned Tuna Fish – Make sure the tuna is packed in olive oil and no additional flavorings.

Baguette/GF Baguette – A nice crusty baguette or it you’re gluten free a gluten-free baguette. See below for some gluten-free options.

Roasted Red Peppers – Try to find the ones that have no vinegar in the ingredient list.

Pepperoncini/Banana Peppers – If you like it spicy go for the pepperoncini. If you want it mild use the banana peppers.

Lettuce – Use your favorite sandwich lettuce

Tomato

Salt

Black Pepper

Gluten-Free Bread Options

If you are gluten-free here are some bread options:

GreenLite Classic Baguette is new on the market and can be found in freezer or bread section. This one is my favorite one.

Schar Gluten-Free Baguette can easily be found at most supermarkets.

Against The Grain Baguette – Also found in most supermarkets in the freezer section.

 

Instructions

  1. Cut baguette in half or to the desired amount. Then split the baguette vertically so you can fill it. 
  2. Fill the inside of the baguette with the canned tuna and its oil.
  3. Top the tuna with the roasted peppers, pepperoncini/banana peppers, lettuce, tomato, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Close the sandwich and enjoy.

Italian Style Tuna Sandwich Recipe

Materials

  • 1 Baguette/GF Baguette
  • 1 can Tuna in Olive Oil
  • 1/8 cup Roasted Red Peppers Make sure they are not in vinegar
  • 1-2 Tbsp Pepperoncini/Banana Peppers
  • 2-3 Tomato Slices
  • 1-2 Lettuce Leaves

Instructions

  • Cut the baguette crosswise to desired amount. Then split it in half vertically so you can fill it.
  • Add one can of tuna in olive oil (do not drain) to the baguette until the bottom of the baguette is covered.
  • Top with the roasted red peppers, pepperoncini/banana peppers, lettuce, tomato, salt and black pepper.
  • Close the sandwich. Enjoy.

Notes

Quantities are approximate and to your liking. You can add more toppings or less as desired.
You can easily make the whole baguette for more servings with two can's of tuna fish and increase the quantities of the toppings.
